International Trade Compliance

Hanzo is committed to conducting all international trade in full accordance with applicable export, import and customs regulations. We recognise that cross-border shipments of animal-derived products require careful legal compliance, and we maintain policies designed to minimise regulatory risk for our customers, logistics partners and payment providers.

Destination Screening

Before accepting or dispatching an international order, Hanzo reviews whether the selected product may be legally imported into the customer's destination country.

This review takes into account applicable restrictions relating to:

  • prohibited or restricted fur species;
  • national wildlife trade regulations;
  • import prohibitions on particular animal products;
  • economic sanctions and trade restrictions;
  • any other applicable import requirements known to us at the time of dispatch.

Where we determine that a product cannot be legally exported or imported, the order will not be fulfilled. We do not rely on customers to determine whether an item is permitted in their jurisdiction.

Accurate Customs Declarations

Hanzo is committed to complete transparency in all customs documentation.

We do not:

  • undervalue shipments;
  • misdescribe products;
  • misclassify goods;
  • conceal the nature of the products being exported;
  • split shipments for the purpose of avoiding customs requirements; or
  • otherwise attempt to circumvent customs or import regulations.

Commercial invoices and customs declarations accurately describe the goods being shipped using appropriate product descriptions and tariff classifications to the best of our knowledge.

Regulatory Compliance

Hanzo complies with applicable export and import legislation governing the jurisdictions in which we operate and the destinations to which we ship.

Where required, we cooperate with customs authorities, shipping carriers and logistics partners by providing supporting documentation relating to a shipment.

If a change in legislation, customs policy or carrier restrictions prevents a shipment from being completed lawfully, Hanzo reserves the right to cancel the order and issue a full refund prior to dispatch.

Product Traceability

Every garment sold by Hanzo is individually photographed and listed as a unique item.

We maintain records relating to each purchase and sale, including supplier information where available, purchase records, product photographs and order documentation. These records assist with inventory management, customer service and regulatory enquiries where appropriate.

Carrier Compliance

Hanzo ships only through recognised international carriers capable of handling customs clearance in accordance with applicable regulations.

We work with our logistics partners to ensure shipments are prepared with accurate documentation and are presented for customs processing in accordance with carrier requirements.

Customer Responsibilities

Customers remain responsible for any import duties, VAT, GST, customs processing fees or other charges imposed by the customs authorities of the destination country unless otherwise stated during checkout.

Customers are also responsible for complying with any local licensing or documentation requirements that may apply to the importation of animal-derived products into their jurisdiction.

Ongoing Compliance

International trade regulations evolve over time. Hanzo periodically reviews its sourcing, shipping and compliance procedures and updates internal policies where appropriate.

If there is any uncertainty regarding the legality of exporting a product or importing it into a destination country, Hanzo will always adopt a precautionary approach and will not dispatch the shipment until compliance can be established with reasonable confidence.
